SUBJECT: Unauthorized Use Of Intel Corporation's Corporate Logo

ACTION REQUESTED: Written Confirmation That you Will Cease Unauthorized Use

PLEASE RESPOND BY: February 7, 1996

Dear Mr. Collins:

Intel Corporation monitors third party advertisements for misuses of our corporate trademarks. It has come to our attention that you are using Intel's Corporate Logo® on your World Wide Web page without our permission and in an altered state (see attached copy). This is a alteration of our Corporate Logo and an infringement of our trademark rights, and we request that you immediately cease and desist further use of same.

Also, you use the designation "P6" in an Intel-related section of your WWW page. This suggests to consumers that "P6" refers to an Intel product or is an Intel trademark. Please note that no product by that name is presently available from Intel. Currently, Intel's highest performance processor is sold under the Pentium® Pro mark.

Lastly, when using Intel's trademarks, we ask that you refer to the following guidelines

1 Always use Pentium trademark as an adjective describing an appropriate noun. (i.e., Pentium® processor, Pentium® microprocessor, Pentium® Pro chip or Intel486 chip.) Please note that the following are NOT acceptable nouns: "CPU," "motherboard," "power," "system," "computer," "PC," "workstation," "class," "notebook," "server," "probe," "model."

2. Always use the appropriate trademark symbol ("Pentium® Processor")(Intel386 Processor).

Always use an appropriate acknowledgment line such as "Pentium is a registered trademark and Intel386 and Intel486 are trademarks of Intel Corporation."

Intel has invested a great deal of time, money, and effort in the development, promotion, and use of our name and Corporate Logo. As a result, we have gained a high level of public recognition worldwide and extensive goodwill, and we must be vigilant in protecting these valuable corporate assets.

The Trademarks and Brands Group has learned from past experience that failure to protect one's own marks may lead to significant loss for the corporation. Please note that our intent is to protect our logos and trademarks and not to prohibit you from using our trademarks correctly. A copy of Intel's Trademark Usage Guidelines is enclosed for your reference. We trust that it will assist you in the future.

We hope this situation can be amicably resolved and look forward to your written confirmation by February 7, 1996 that you are complying with the above requests to (1) cease use of the Intel Corporate Logo, and any alteration or variation thereof and (2) cease use of the designation "P6" when referring to Intel's Pentium Pro processor. Or, if you prefer, simply sign the attached Read and Agreed where indicated to confirm your compliance and return it to me.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please feel free to contact me at (408) 765-8193.

Sincerely yours,
